Title: What tog single duvet for toddler?
Post by: buttonbaby on September 29, 2009, 20:59:49 pm
DD is in a bed and currently using a 4 tog cot bed duvet..but it is too small for the bed and winter is coming (it does get cold here)so going to get a standard single duvet but looking here the lowest togs are 10-13.5 and seems like a huge jump form the 2-4 tog gro-bags and quilts so wondering what tog quilt should I get for her..can get some in the US where I am sure they would have  lighter togs?
Any advice appreciated?

bumping up for you- don't use togs as a measurement in the US...

Oh Thanks Cathie..good to know. actually just found out Ikea did 6 tog ones here(Sorry don't know the US equilivant) so think that would be a small jump but still warmer for the winter!

Thanks again cathie..DD is actually out of the grobags now but used them right up til she was able to remove them...you see they were 2 togs at the most and now I want to get a duvet and the lowest tog I could find was 10.5...seems a lot heavier.
Thanks for all your help though!

I was a bit suprised when I started looking at single duvets after cot ones, too. But then I did find a few places that do single 4 or 4.5 tog duvets. Try John Lewis online, for one, (www.johnlewis.com) - there is a 4.5 tog single duvet for £8.

Or else, what I almost did (before I found a 4.5 tog one on a sale in our local department store ata  bargain price!!) was to buy a 'seasons' one, where you get a 10 tog and a 4 tog toegther that you can use separately, and then clip together for super-warmth in the winter. And just use the 4 tog bit for now, and the heavier one when they get older, since presumably, there comes a point where they need more togs to be warm enough, just like an adult.

Its all a bit irrelevant for us, anyway, since DD is currently going hrough a phase of kicking off the duvet and removing her pjyamas (AND nappy!!) before going to sleep. So am wondering why I bothered  ::)

Oh thanks caty...thats a great idea on the season one..will look intot he john lewis one too...great help, Thanks.
My DD kicks of her duvet too but luckily thats all..she did go through a striping phase but luckily It didnt last long and she could only manage to take off certain things...pj bottoms esp so put on a long nightdress...a vest with buttons at the crotch stopped the nappy removal! Hope it ends for you soon!
Thanks again!
