6 month old only naps for 20 -30 minutes
« on: March 01, 2011, 21:03:47 pm »
Hello,

My daughter is 6 months old and only naps for 30 minutes at the most 3 times a day. She was waking at 7.30am but a few weeks back I had to wake her at 6.45 as I had to go on a training course, since then she now wakes at 6.30am. Is there anything wrong with my EASY? How can I get her back into her previous routine?

6.30 - Awake
7.30 - Eat (bottle)
8.30 (breakfast)
Sits in bouncer, then has a wash and gets dressed
9ish - Ready for a nap (previously could go 3 hrs between naps when she woke at 7.30am)
9.30ish - Awake
11.30 - Eat (bottle)
12.30ish Nap
1 - Awake
3.30 - Eat (bottle)
4 - Nap
4.30 - Awake
6.20ish - Bedtime routine
6.45 - Final bottle
7.30 - Asleep

When she was waking at 7.30am she was so much more content and wouldnt wake up from her naps crying. Since waking up at 6.30 she wakes from her naps in tears!

Any help would be appreciated x x x

At 6 months a lot of LOs are ready to drop their CN and move to 2 naps.  If LO can handle 3 hours A time I think she's ready to make the transition.

Typical Amounts of Day and Night Sleep states that she should be having "Two naps 1-2 hours each; and 10-12 hours at night", she's having 11 hours at night but only 3 naps at 30 minutes each, i dont think she would be able to drop a nap as all her naps are catnaps.

Sorry I missunderstood.  Have her naps always been 30 minutes?

Have you had luck with extending naps?  does she go to sleep independently?

Have you done an earlier bedtime?

They used to be 20 minutes so she has improved bless her. She goes to sleep really well and i wouldnt know how to extend her naps.

Do you think an earlier bedtime would help? She really takes her time with her last bottle, i return to work in 3 months so think an earlier bedtime would be a struggle.

Wonder if her activity time is too long ... i'm at a loss x x x
