Your LO's first 3 meals?
« on: November 11, 2011, 01:56:25 am »
Can everyone please share their LO's first 3 meals and how they went?
I'm not doing the cereal / rice to start with as my DS's osteopath recommended sticking with just fruit and veges for a while.
Please share your experiences  ;D
P.S DS is 5.5mo and we just started last week...

We never did rice from a box either. Do you have the BW book?  I followed Tracy's advice.  We started with pears ( I oven roasted them and then mashed them) then we did sweet potatoes.  Then I followed the Superbabyfood book as recommended by Tracy. http://www.superbabyfood.com/

I also followed these websites: http://www.annabelkarmel.com/   http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/

We also didnt do rice. Hard on the tummy really!

Started with pears as well, then pumpkin, sweet potato and apple. :) You can actually mix combos out of these four too which are yummy and give your LO some variety when starting out.

Our first 'meals' were all accidents and having to give LO something to prevent total meltdown in public.  I had planned on them being something wonderful and memorable like asparagus spears or something but I think it ended up being a suck on melon, a piece of garlic bread, then potato wedges & apple wedges and a spoon of icecream!
I was so determined to wait until 6 months that I was totally unprepared and caught out at 5.5 months.  I learnt pretty quickly that I needed to prepare some LO friendly foods to have to hand though.

L's first three meals were:
1. carrot puree
2. butternut squash puree
3. sweet potato puree

She loved them all ;D and her poops turned bright orange!

I generally followed Annabel Karmel's suggestions for good first foods, added new ones quite quickly (as L didn't get any bad reactions) and combined them/mixed them up lots too.  Didn't do rice but gave L baby porridge for breakfast after around a month I think.

Have fun!
