can someone check my EASY? what am I doing wrong?
« on: November 11, 2011, 16:08:36 pm »
Hey. I'm still trying to get a decent night out of my lo. Things have been a bit rubbish, and on tuesday, she had to have some laxatives for fecal impaction after moving to a 4hr bottle feeding easy from a 3hr BF easy,

She now has normal looking poops with the help of the laxatives, on soya formula. I'm trying to bear in mind that she could be more MSPI and we might need to look at changing formula again.

Last 3 days easy have been like this

Tues
E 7.30am 2oz
A
S 09.00-09.50
A
S 10.45-11.30
E 11.30 3oz
A
S 14.00-16.15 (on and off in carseat)
E 16.15 3oz
A
S 17.45-18.15
A
E 19.00 3oz
S 19.40
E 01.20 3oz
Loads of NW's very squimy trying to get sorted with the laxatives

Wed
E 8.00am 4oz
A
S 09.00-09.50
A
E 10.50 5oz
A
S 11.40-15.00 (on and off in carseat)
E 15.00
A
S 16.50-17.45
A
E 19.00 3oz
S 19.15
E 10.45 6oz!!!
S
E 02.45 5oz
NW at 5, resettled with dummy, slept til 06.45

Thurs
E 7.00am 2oz
A
E 8.30 4oz
S 08.50-09.35
A
S 10.45-12.20
E 13.00 4oz
A
S 14.00-14.45
A
E 16.00 3oz
A
S 17.00-17.50
A
E 18.40 4oz
S 19.40
E 12.40 3.5oz
NW's all night long. Not hungry, just squirming around...settled for 30 mins at a time, then calling again. Got hungry at 06.00, but held on so not to wake up DS by turning off house alarm!

Today feeds have been at 06.50 4oz, 10.05 4oz and 13.35 4oz with nice long naps inbetween each one. But this is back to a 3.25hr easy.

Anyone got any ideas? I've tried a DF and it just results in another waking after 2hr 40 mins. I need some sleep soon!

Lili, I wouldn't worry so much if she is not on a rigid 4h cycles. I think at her age and with the switch of the formula, 3.5h is also ok. Sure you should aim for 4h, but if it doesn't work then you'd work around it.
From the look of it I think your LO is very UT and that's why the naps are like 50min each. You's need to start and up her A time slowly till you hit the right one, my guess would be somewhere around the 1.5h and perhaps even little longer.
The nights I honestly don't know, could be the laxatives or could be UT from the day.

a time is normally just short of 2 hours, but if she takes a short nap, she only seems to handle about 1hr a before wanting back to bed. If she is on a 4hr easy then she doesnt eat enough through the day.

Ok, so if your first A of the day is around 2 hours what length of nap will you get?
If feeding her every 3.5h works for you I'd do it for now. I believe it will change when she is used to the Formula.

lili - just to reassure you. DS did not get onto a 4 hour EASY until he started properly on solids, some don't and now with DD we are at 3.5.

thanks guys. Today has again been about 3.25hr easy. She can go longer between feeds, but until her a gets longer, i wont push it. Tbh i think we are heading down the mspi route, and i dont think im going to get anywhere until i get her on some food that agrees with her. Im just desperate for some sleep!

My DS is 4months 1 weeks also.... He was similar with the 50min naps.... and the eating little amounts. We are on an 3.5hr EASY. And he eats about 7oz per bottle. (once you get your LO on decent formula shell eat more, dont worry she wont let herself starve).
When you LO wakes from naps is she crying?screaming?just fussing? use a paci? With my DS we extended naps by going in when waking at 50min we go in give paci. And stand next to the crib until he fell back asleep.... the first few days were rough but eventually he learned that if I fuss mommy comes in but she doesnt pick me up so why bother fussing. now he wakes up from his naps HAPPY with lots of SMILES!!!
Once we got our DS napping well for 3 days in a row he STTN!! YEAH!!! I would recommend for a few days to try to stay at home for all nap times, get your neighbours or DH to run errands or pick up other kids from school. I know this sounds like alot to ask, but I went back to work when DS was 3months so I understand this may be hard to do.

thanks for your responses. Some days we're running a 3.5 easy, others a 4. Naps are starting to lengthen by themselves now, and we've started back up a df. This new formula is leaving her more hungry, and less pain.
