IMO it won't hurt to get a dummy,

Mine too.  I've read that if you're using it when he's trying to comfort suck instead (which is exactly like what that sounds like!) that you should be ok.  ((hugs))

So I got DP to buy dummies last night on his way home. I haven't managed to swaddle Corey because he was always wanting to suck his fingers but I swaddled him and gave him his dummy and off he went to sleep no problem :)

The following 2 feeds he hasn't needed the dummy but its nice to know its there if I need it. I got scred feeding him after giving him the dummy incase it affected the way he fed but it was fine :)

Thanks ladies, he already seems more settled.

Glad things are going well  :)

We started with a Dummy at less than 1 week and had no problems, can't imagine surviving without it!

Nipples are a little tender today but my breasts have gone down a little, not so engorged which is great. He seems to go through phases of feeding every 2-3 hours for about 30mins to sometimes feeding for over an hour - I always wonder whether he is getting any milk after the first 30mins but he still sucks and never cries (which I assume he would do if he wasn't getting any)

He fed tonight and even slept long enough for me to enjoy a cuppa and some chocolate while watching X factor :)

Phew - it's 4.30am here and we have been up since 1.45am feeding. He is one hungry boy tonight - it's nights like these I wish DP could help. I'm so jealous of him snoring away beside me!

i think any BFing mommy has thought that more than once!!!i used to "force" DH to take her the second i finished feeding to burp & resettle etc....sometimes it was only a matter of minutes, but those extra few minutes of sleep are so precious!xxx

I did that too!! And as soon as we introduced the DF I pumped at 9.30pm, was in bed by 10pm and DH did the DF so I got a bit more sleep.
Re the dummy, DD was given one without consulting me by the midwife the day she was born while I was out of things after a CC. Luckily it never interfered with BFing and I think I would have been lost without it because for the first 2 months our feeds lasted 1.5-2h every time and the only way I could get her to sleep 1h on her own was the dummy! She did do 5h stretches at night pretty quick though so that saved my boobs a bit:)

Goodness, I think I thought it hundreds of times.

Glad the boobs are feeling a bit better today.  :)
