EASY at 6mths when moving from 3-2 naps
« on: April 22, 2013, 03:33:18 am »
My DD will be 6 mths next week and she is finally extending her A time making the 3 -2 nap a possibility! Even though I have been here twice before with DS1&2 it's been awhile and I can't remember how to fit in milk feeds with the new 2 nap schedule.

Also have the complication of reflux meds having to be given on an empty tummy (min 2 hrs since last food) and she then can't eat for at least 30 mins. She has these in the evening as per paed instruction.

Our EASY ATM is this
WU 6.15 (damn daylight savings!!!)
BF 7
S 9-11
BF 11
Solids 12
S 1.30-3 (when not doing school pick up)
BF 3
Solids 4
CN 5.15-5.45
Meds 6 (nexium for reflux)
BF 6.45
BT 7.45

If we move to 3 hrs A time, how do the milk feeds fit in to. 4 hrly schedule, as she would be asleep thru either the 11 or 3 nap (or both as she sleeps well during the day, I wak from most naps)

TIA

Hello :)

Are you wanting to keep the early wake up or the later bedtime - what's your ideal wakeup/bedtime?  Really, we would want a 11-12 hr day since she is just moving to 2 naps...

The early WU is a new thing, since daylight savings ended here in Oz. prior to that she was doing 7.45-7.45 as a 12 hr day.

Okay.. so if we keep the 745am wake up:

E 745am (BF)
A *maybe add in a small bit of solids here or offer a small top up feed 30mins before nap to get her through until she is ready for more solids - this is super common at this age actually.
S 1045 - 1215pm

E 1230pm  (BF)
A  solids as part of A time here
S 330-5pm

E 5pm (BF)
A Solids at 530pm & Nexium at 730pm, last BF at 8pm.
S Bedtime at 815pm

Yeesh - this is a tough one!  What do you think?

Thanks Kara.

Unfortunately the EW hasn't resolved itself although no complaints as she was up at 7 this morning which is ideal for when we are back at school.

The Nexium ideally needs to be given before 6, so that is where it gets tricky. I am just going to have to play around a bit with it.

We are still on 3 naps as she just had vaccinations and I don't want to add to her misery at the moment. What age isn't that they 'usually' got to 2 naps. My DD has always needed more sleep than others her age, although seems to be catching up as she does 2.5hr easily now.

I also have the issue of school pick up, for which I need to leave the house at 2.15 and don't  get back till after 3. It is 'EASY' to see why EASY gets harder the more kids you have :-)

Thanks so much for your input, much appreciated x

For sure leave her be for a few days after shots... they are generally more sleepy then since sleep is fitful for a few days.

Any chance you could move her Nexium to earlier in the day?

Mine had lower - average sleep needs and dropped her CN at 5.5 months (but still slept 14 hrs in 24).  Moved to one nap at 11 months 1 week (went up to 14-15 hrs total sleep) and just dropped her nap completely in the last 3 months (sleeps 12-13 hrs now)... she's just about 2.5yrs old.  Most drop the CN by 7/8 months.. depends on what else is happening with other family members - like school runs etc...
