15 month old waking up at night!
« on: September 18, 2013, 23:33:30 pm »
My 15 month old son keeps waking up in the night! He'll wake up around 5 or 6 (which is early since he used to sleep until 8). The weird thing is that he wakes up, plays for an hour and falls back asleep until 9. He doesn't cry or but he'll call me and his dad. We never go in there bc we know he will freak out if we walk out of the room. He almost always goes down between 8 and 9 at bedtime and takes a good 2 hour nap at 12 so I dont know he is doing this. Anyone got any ideas?

Is he teething? Have you tried medicating him inthe night - say at 4 or 5 to rule this out?

Alternatively, perhaps he's ready for that nap to be moved a bit later - 12 is quite an early nap for a child on a 9am WU.

Maybe but he never seems to be bothered by his teeth.
I usually put him down at 12 if hes up at 8 but 1 if hes up at 9. I dont like to go past 4 hours of awake time bc then he takes a 3 hour nap and is up too late night.

It is ok for him to have a 3 hr nap, although if it doesn't work for him you could wake him from the nap to preserve BT? I do think the early nap is not helping, but perhaps try the meds to see if it hepw. We ever get distress here from teeth, just early morning NWs.
