Yes I know what you mean, I will try to give her morning A 3hrs45mins instead of 3hrs30/40 then 45mins AM nap, then I will keep second A at 3hrs then PM nap 1.5 hrs and then 3hrs35/40 mins maybe instead of 3hrs30mins.

She never sleeps in a strolle or a car :( so that won't work. The only hope I had was she would fall asleep on the breast but no luck. I can never get her to sleep in situations like that. Will try for 5pm BT. Thanks

Have you talked to your doctor?  The worrisome thing is that she refuses to breast feed or cries while feeding. Try breast feeding before giving her solids. My doctor has told me in the past that if my baby cries while breast feeding then she may not be getting enough milk. And breast feeding before solids should ensure that she is getting enough milk and not filling up on solids (which don't have enough calories to keep a baby full).

Hi there, DD doesnt refuse to nurse. I think she was crying during E because she would WU very tired because she wasn't able to resettle herself during sleep. Now that she is an independent sleeper we don't have this problem anymore. But thanks!

Hi Jodes, just a quick question. DD WU at 4:50am this morning. Was whining for 20 mins then crying. If I count she WU at 5:15 let's say the earliest and offer her AM nap at 9:00am would you let her sleep for longer then 45mins because of the long A?
I'm not sure why EWU. Her BT last night was 6:30ish but the last A got too long because of burping.
Thanks in advance.

Yes i would probably allow an hour, or 1.5, as he has lost out on the morning sleep otherwise. Which ever you would feel comfortable as i know you like to cap at 1 hr, but then u may strugle to get through the day with the first nap being too short.

Apart from that how have you been getting on?

Thanks. We are great otherwise.
Here is a typical day
WU 5:30 ish
Then S 9:15 S for 45mins

WU 10 so here we extended A from 3hrs to 3hrs10mins
1:10 S

2:40 WU
6:15 BT

For today I am afraid to give a whole 1.5 hrs of S because then I don't know how long to give her A after that. Or even after 1hr should I stick to the same A of 3hrs10min or increase it to 3hrs30mins?

I would give just a touch longer, mabee 10/15 mins. Because this doesnt happen very often it may be that you need to watch her sleepy cues, if she still seems ready for a nap at 3hr10 then put down then, if you think she may go a little longer then giveran extra 10/15 (or more if you think doesnt seem sleepy enough)

Well done though looks like she is settling down a bit x

Jodes, DD woke up early again this morning at 4:45am (6:00 BT ) yesterday we switched to long AM and short PM nap because of EWU yesterday. So now I need to cut her Day S right? Her short nap is 45min and long nap is 1.5 hrs. Which nap do I cut and by how much? I know it also says in the 2-1 transition post that if we have short AM nap the by cutting AM nap I will need to cut her second A but we will run short on the day then???
So this is  our typical day on short AM/long PM
WU 5:30 A-3hrs45mins
S 9:15 for 45 mins

Wu 10 A-3hrs10mins
S 1:10 for 1.5hrs

WU 2:40 A-3hrs35mins
BT 6:15

but today we will go for the opposite just like yesterday cause of EWU or do you think long AM nap encouraged EWU? Yesterday I tried waking DD at 50 mins of AM nap but because she woke up early and had 4hrs5/10mins of morning A she was really tired and fell back asleep during E. So I held her for 10/15 mins thinking I will give her 1 hr of S but then again she just couldn't wake up. So I placed her in the crib and then woke her at 1.5hrs of S and she looked rested.

Long AM/short PM
4:50 WU A-4hrs10mins
9:00 S for 1.5hrs

10:30 WU A-3hrs45mins
2:15 S for 45mins

3:00 WU A- 3hrs
6:00 BT

How should cut her naps shorter with short AM/long PM and with long AM/short PM?
It's only 7:20am and she is yawning already  :o
Thanks so much

I would cap at 1hr again, and the PM nap 1.5 hr.

Generally in 2-1 one nap is shortened because its hard to fit 2 full naps in the day due to A times getting longer. I think you need to be at about 3hr15 to 3hr30 A in the aft before you shorten a nap to 30 mins otherwise its going to be hard to get through a 12/13 hr day.

I think cos you know that shorter Am longer PM works if stick with that but still try and work on pushing that after noon A just a little more x

Hi Jodes, how are you. wanted to ask you regarding DD/s day. She is now taking longer to fall asleep for the PM nap so I will try to increase her second A to 3hrs30min from 3hrs15mins, just like you said, but I am wondering wouldn't it make her day very long? if she wakes at 5:30am then she will be going to bed at 6:30pm and she will be having total Day S of 2hrs15mins with total A time of 10hrs45mins. What do you think? TIA

11hr nights are very normal at this age  :)  You will even get 10.5hr nights before the switch to one nap.
