Hi, my son stopped sleeping since he was 8 months old! I stopped breastfeeding at that time! He had an egg and milk allergy! He was suffering from severe diarrhea and vomiting for few months by the time the doctors found out what was wrong with him! I stopped night feeding him 2 weeks ago! He poos 3-4 times a day! He eats well but most of it is out! He might be hungry at night but not too sure! He screams his head off every night! I tried few techniques from the book but nothing seems to be working! He grew out of milk allergy but he is still under supervision for egg allergy! He sleeps in the same room with my 4 year old daughter! I feel sorry for her as she is up at nights too! Please help! Not sure what else to do! Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

Welcome to BW. I'm sorry your LO has been poorly. Do you think he may still be suffering with intolerances? Does he seem to have digestive discomfort?

Can you post when you put him down for a nap/naps and when BT/WU typically is.

Hi, thank you for responding! He is under the supervision of pediatrician. He is seen every 6 months and they do tests on him every time! He poos every feed though! I thought it might have been milk so reduced the amount but he is still pooing after each feed which I'm not sure whether this is normal? He sleeps between 10 and 1 for 2-3 hours! I feel like he is hungry as he is pooing so much! I tried so many things but he is just getting up screaming his head off!

He may not have a milk allergy but a digestive response (intolerance) I think I would try cutting dairy out of his diet and see if things improve. I really think at 17 mths crying that much indicates he feels poorly. :-\

What has been said by the peads re his poops? Do they have mucus in them? Blood?

(Hugs)

Hiya, I tried cutting it out no difference there might be something else. Pead is not bothered too much as charlie is putting on weight! Every now and again there is a bit of mucus no blood! he doesn't have a solid poo! They are all loose always all the time!
Everyone is telling me I spoil him that's why he is the way he is! but I don't think I spoiled him to such extent for him to scream randomly at night! He was always very poorly! constantly vomiting and pooing! Everyone is hard on him as they think he is trying his luck but I always thought he was suffering with something! sometimes he will even poo at night and obviously he would be disturbed again! When he tries his luck he is cheeky and stubborn but doesn't scream! he will wing but at night he is really screaming! Not sure...I tried everything...That's why decided to join forum as some of my friends benefited from talking to others!

I don't think it's anything to do with you spoiling him Hun, giving love doesn't make kids scream a lot in discomfort or wake in pain.

How long did you cut dairy out for? You need to do it for 2-3weeks :-\  does your LO have other foods which could a problem! soy or wheat are coo mon intolerances. I'm going to ask for more eyes on this and we may yet move your thread to another board. X

Hugs, that sounds rough. Can you ask to see a dietician? Maybe keep a food diary to track when he eats what ans how he is those nights etc.

A food diary is a great idea. My DD2 had frequent nasty poos until we took her off of gluten (too much fruit also affeted her) and now she is going normally. She had a milk intolerance too, but that left her constipated.

Hi, would you like post on the Food Allergies board and we could have a look at his diet and symptoms?

Otherwise my opinion is you can't make a baby sleep who is poorly or in pain. If it your gut instinct that he is in discomfort I would be starting there. Has he ever had reflux? Are the only symptoms the crying and pooing/vomiting? I would say at 17 months if he is still vomiting then there is something going on.

Does my LO have food intolerances?

Have you seen this thread? Your KO does have several of the symptoms that would indicate some more allergies or intolerances.

How did you reintroduce milk back into
his diet? I wonder if he has some MPI?

Maybe you could post a couple if days if what he eats? I assume he eats a wide variety of foods?

When he cries at night does he have has then? Rumbly tummy maybe? With olly he would cry for 2 hours at night but we could hear the gas in his stomach and literally had to wait for it to pass and then he would sleep.

Out of interest does he have any eczema?

Hi, he's got quite a lot of those symptoms actually! But i thought there are more teething related!  he was on diary free milk and there was not that much difference! he is under the supervision of the pediatric dietitian and she showed me slow way of introducing the dairy  products! he was perfectly fine taking it! no poos no vomiting! for some time he was fine! he never showed milk allergy in any of the tests! the only thing he is showing strongly is egg! so for the last 8-9 months he is on egg free diet! There might be something else! I'm due a follow up appointment with pead!

So the poos and vomiting are more recent? There was a period he had no symptoms and they just started when he was 8 months? If he has an egg allergy then there could well be other allergies or intolerances, even if it is not milk.

I would strongly suggest a food diary and see if anything jumps out at you.

Our allergist considers a reaction to be the true test for an allergy no matter what a blood or scratch test reveals. Plus there are cases of false negatives (and even false positives) so that could throw things off as well.
