Day and night mixed up?
« on: September 03, 2014, 14:48:45 pm »
Hi

My 12wo feeds every 2-3 hours at night and takes barely anything during the day. Has he got day and night mixed up? I give him about 3 hours between 'feeds' but he sucks for a few minutes and then refuses anymore. I try when he's drowsy but he's not bothered. Do I try pushing the 1st night feed back? Currently I df at about 10.15/30 then he's awake at about midnight - he takes a good feed and goes back to sleep. This happens throughout the night. The tanks up from 6pm ish but it's not enough to get him through. Between 7am and 6pm he has very little. He's EBF

Yes it does sound like he may be reverse cycling. There is some great info here on why it happens and how to deal with it. http://kellymom.com/bf/normal/reverse-cycling/

Some babies also feed better when sleepy and more relaxed at night if they are experiencing discomfort associated with feeding like teething, reflux, intolerances etc.
