Growth spurt is on and of at 7 weeks/old for 6 days??
« on: September 25, 2014, 14:08:19 pm »
Hello all!
My 7-8 w/o DD has been behaving in a strange way in her routine.
6 days ago she started eating every hour or two after being on a 3 hour EASY routine for about 3 weeks.
We thought it was a growth spurt and the next two days just like Tracey suggested I was feeding her from 'three' breasts ( empty the first one/empty the second/ give the first one again. It didn't work always since my DD would fall asleep on the second and I didn't force her to eat from the first one again. ) ;) Probably because she was so full she still kind of kept a 3 hour break/rough routine between the feedings the next two days. On the 3 rd day it looked like it was over.  She didn't show signs of hunger.
We did vaccination ( Hep B- the first shot). She was fussy all day. On the fourth day she acted like hungry again every 2 or 1, 5 hour. Her Sleep is totally messed up. Today is the 6th night of it. The day was totally a mess. Two Naps for 30 min. One for 1hour. Hardly can put her to sleep after screams( the last three weeks the morning naps she would self sooth totally independently).  The longest nap after 3 pm lasted 1hour and she woke up hungry.
Two days ago I started introducing her a pacifier. It almost didn't work and whenever I give it to her to try to resettle her to prolong her nap she wakes up acting hungry.
Can the growth spurt be like this sporadic? On and of for 6 days?
Of course I am worried that maybe I don't have enough milk supply.... But it seems like during these days yesterday  I felt a strong let down. On the second day after it started her weight gain was 50% which is normal.
Could it be that pacifier maybe tells her its time to eat and she is acting hungry after I give it to her?
Is it really a growth spurt or I have to look for something else?
Thanks all for your ideas!
Olha

Hi. This is probably a wonder week. You can get more information here http://www.thewonderweeks.com/mental-leap-2/. There is also a growth spurt somewhere around here. These are the times which also help to build up your supply, so do offer more frequently. I would simply reduce the time between feeds. Things should normalise soon.
