Nursing strike....refuse to eat when awake
« on: November 20, 2015, 20:40:09 pm »
My 4mo old daughter had been refused to be nursed during the past two weeks. (She does not take bottles) She only eats when she is sleepy or asleep. When I tried to feed her on 3.5hr routine, she can go on without eating for 7 hours. Or she would make up all those missing calories at night. I am really worried, since she is a skinny baby (10-15% percentile). Should I continue EASY routine? I am just worried if it would hinder her growth.

Any thoughts?

Thanks very much,
Daisy

No, I wouldn't continue.  Growth is far more important so I would nurse her when she wants it. If she wants it only to fall asleep then I'd work with that for now. If she will take it as she is waking up, still in the darkened bedroom then do that (too).

You can always choose to switch to EASY at a later date if you want to when she is feeding well again.

Sometimes this can be a sign of reflux. Does she have any reflux symptoms?
