Oh my, talk about stressful!  My LO 12mths IS STILL BREASTFED ABOUT 5-6 times a day including one feed at night. I've had two full normal period cycles and now this month it's missing in actuon.  I recall having ovulation pain.  About three days after period was due to come, I had a slight pinch in left ovary and slight cramping.  From the next day onwards I've had heavy CM. The last two days I've had more frequent urination.  I've test lots, all negative. All my pregnancies I have tested positive before period was due so if it was pregnancy this isn't my norm. My period is over one week late. Can all these hormonal things happen in absence of period due to hormones while breast feeding? It's bizaare. Has any of this happened to you?

Sounds very normal whilst still breastfeeding that often, though I'm sorry you are feeling so worried about it - ((hugs)).  I would probably just re-check a pregnancy test in a week if no period by then, but try not to worry too much.  Hormones can be a bit crazy sometimes!  Holding your hand while you wait x

I've only had 3 periods since having DD. Two right at the beginning of the year and one last week. Crazy!

I had a fright when ds3 was about a year old.  I'd had 2 or 3 periods then nothing.  After a few days I realised that actually ds (who was still waking to feed at night) had started to wake a bit more often.  I googled to reassure myself and found quite a few stories from mums whose baby's feeding had changed and their periods had stopped again.  I think my period arrived about 2.5 weeks late in the end.  Phew!

Hope you don't have to wait long!

Gah, I'm pregnant!!!!!!!! Even though we used contraception, this swimmer was way too determined.  Guess the pinch in ovary followed by cramping was implantation.  Totally fracking out, sooooo not part of the plan.  5 kids, oh my!!!

I know that feeling well, DS2 was not part of our plan... Be gentle with yourself, and if you need an understanding shoulder then you know where I am.

Thank you.  I'm strangely peaceful, perhaps in a bit of denial.  I feel guilty because I already find it hard to have good one to one time with each of my kids.  I feel it's unfair to throw an extra one in.  Hubby wanted to stop at four.  I haven't told him yet as he's been out late working most nights this week.  I'm kinda happy to,have had the chance to process this a bit before telling him. I'm already stressed with four so scared about five.  BUT, given these few guilty, negative feelings, I don't feel excited (I'm sure that will come), but I do feel very peaceful. I did pray a while ago saying that one day I think I'd like 5 but it would have to be an accident as I wouldn't have the guts to purposefully try for a fifth, and here we are. Wouldve liked the age gap to be a bit bigger, but they'll have fun I'm sure.

Oh my word!!!!!! Congratulations and hope you're sitting down lots as you come to terms with this.    There's a fair few around who'll be a smidge envious.  Oh, yes, that could include me ;)

I guess my question now is, is it safe to breastfeed during a healthy pregnancy? This is the first time I'm attempting it.  I'm just concerned as I'm getting cramping while I feed. After the morning feed today's, I still have light cramping 1hr later.  Is this ok? Slightly nervous!

There's a thread here which might be quite helpful: Pregnant and Breastfeeding/Tandem feeding Support Thread part 2 and I know several Mums here have experience of breastfeeding whilst pregnant :)

Perfectly safe! I'm on that thread pp posted. I BF DS1 throughout my entire pregnancy with DS2 and for 6 months in tandem with DS2. Loads of people do it. Your body with prioritise the baby in your womb but because you LO is over She can make up her calories with solid food and the breast milk will just complement that.
