Tips for waking very sleepy newborn to feed
« on: January 20, 2017, 20:30:51 pm »
Hi all, I'm looking for some advice on behalf of my sister who has a lovely 2 week old baby. She's still extremely sleepy throughout the day and it's hard to wake her for feeds. She strips her down to her nappy for each feed and changes the nappy too, tickles her, blows on her face, but none of it keeps her awake. It's become an issue bc the midwife is concerned that she hasn't put on any weight, and she's only ever feeding for 5 mins before sleeping again.
She's started pumping and giving her a few ounces a day in bottle but really wants to BF her and not have to pump for every feed.
Any tips for keeping her awake? Any other advice?
Thanks in advance :)
