How to wean 18mo old off breast?
« on: January 22, 2017, 05:19:00 am »
Hello!
I have not found a separate board for weaning so decided to ask here. Please move this post to an appropriate place, if there is such.
My son is 18 mo old and he is still breastfeeding 3-5 times a day. First thing in the morning, when he wakes. Then before nap (he is on one nap), and before bed. But he also demands boob at around 3 & 5, regardless of the food/snacks he's had.
He is a very picky eater who started solids only at around 9mo. Did not want anything to do with it until then.
   I'm really hoping for advice!
Thank you, mamas!

Have a look at our Weaning FAQ on the Breastfeeding FAQ board Weaning
It outlines the various approaches to weaning so see which you feel would suit you best. A lot will depend on how slow and painless you want it to be 🙂 Please feel free to post any further questons you have about the approach you like and we can take it from there.

I expect this will get moved to the breastfeeding board ☺
