It does get better!  I had some biting issues a couple of weeks ago and I was so sad to htink that this could be the end.  but we persevered and all is well again.  I like my time with Lil too.  I see bottle fed bubs feeding themselves, which is good, but I like that fact that i ahve to nurse her...

OK, I have a new reason as to why I love BF...
DD now plays games with me while she nurses. She will take little breaks to play peek-a-boo with my shirt and when she has laughed enough, she tucks her head against me with this shy little smile and then resumes feeding. It is darling. She also has started clapping her hands while nursing. She manages to get that one arm that is pinned around me, up and over my breast to clap with her other. So cute! Its like she is saying "Yay for milk!"

Here's my new reason for loving breastfeeding (good to have after that downer of a post I did a couple days ago).  Ellie just started smiling up at me while she's eating.  And the other day when she woke up and I took out my boob, she squealed with delight!  My heart melts everytime she eats now!!!

This board is so encouraging, I've been so obsessed on increasing my milk supply that I've forgotten to enjoy BF. My LO is trying to bond with me while BF, she smiles and sometimes even coos and I was missing all that.
Thank you

I've read through this a while back and was looking forward to the precious pulling off at the end and the GIANT gummy grin and IT'S HERE.  She's been doing it for a few weeks and it just melts my heart.

Going through this thread again makes me very emotional b/c here I am trying to wean my 11 month old baby (so mommy who needs a break can go on vacation with daddy at the end of the year!) so he will take formula from the bottle/cup. I really do love the entire nursing experience even though it gave me very little freedom to do much else this past 11 months. I am feeling so conflicted about ending the nursing relatinoship w/ Daniel, I want to stop b/c I want to get away for just a couple of weeks, but if I had a choice I'd go on an nurse pass the 1 year mark.

sure we will all feel the same way.. i am just cutting slowly the DF out and it feels also like I am leaving a nice moment out.. even if I will get my evening free again! it is sweet and sour at the same time! well, 11mo is great and couple life is also important, your LO would want happy parents too in the next years so taking a break with your Dh is als important for your LO!!

Hugs!!

This being my second, I still really really enjoy breast feeding! I can not believe how much it helps shrink your uterus back down, as well as help you lose weight!! I am so much more relaxed with this one, and just really enjoying every feed. She pauses and looks up at me and smiles and grins! I don t remember this with my first(most of it is still a blur!! LOL)
It is just so natural and wonderful!
It is also very demanding especially the first few months, I feel like she is attached to  my hip...or boob to be exact, and there really is no "me" time. Can be overwhelming at times, but when I look at the big picture, what I am "giving" to her and the special bonding time that only "I" can give, it really is fulfilling and ABSOLUTELY worth every second!!! :)

Hello

Just noticed this and thought I'd join in  :)

Feeding Ciara was fantastic but stressful too as she was constantly attached to me and had a strong feed/sleep feed/comfort association.  I was terrified of the same thing happening with Callie using EASY we have been able to prevent this happening whilst still being able to snuggle/snooze etc during feeding  :D

It has really enabled me to enjoy bf-ing again   :D :D

We've just made it through the 3 month growth spurt where she was really fussy at every feed, twisting, squirming etc and I am SO pleased that we are finally back to nice, cosy, calm feeds  :D :D

Jumping in here...
Had the worst experience BFing DS and sorely regret giving it up after 4 months. With DD it went much more smoothly BUT there were a lot of feeding issues which have made my supply hard to keep up, I have made it almost 8 months now and feel pretty proud of myself SO
I love BF because:
In the midst of our daily chaos, it's mine and DD's special time ( I still feed in bedroom!)
DD pulls off the breast and smiles at me!
DD latched on great whereas latch has previously been an issue!
Like others have said, it makes travel much less compliated
Sad but trues, I hate cleaning and sterilising!
I feel as though my body is doing what it's supposed to do.
 :)

My son is six months old now and I am truly in love with this nursing business! We had a really hard time getting started - nipple shields, fussy eating, constant eating, blah, blah, blah - but I stuck with it and we are so good at it now! I am so proud of him. Our feeds are such a nice peaceful time in the day and he is just thriving in every way. It makes me feel great to be able to do this for him, and me too!
