Wu was 5.40 from that 6.50bt

A fair night length and another 11.5hr sleep total but it's too early isn't it?!

Cd he still be regulating after 12 days?

Or is bt set too early? It was 6.45pd for a 7.15/7.30 bt before 45min nap

Thank you everyone.

So this is what's happening.

We had four days where it appeared to settle.

45min nap with 7/7.10 bt from 6.30pd and around 11hr nights.

Today it is failing.

He is still wide awake at 7.30. I don't know how long for.

So what will I do?

There's no more waiting for it to settle. It did settle. This is where it starts to fall apart again. I'm particularly scared of how to manage the 4.30am wake ups as I do not want to get him up before six - what cd happen if I had to?? What if he was too ot at nap time to sleep. As you know, Benji shows no tired signs I can only read how tired he is by how he sleeps or doesn't sleep.

He's still wide awake talking to daddy now at 7.35.

What do I do? What is my next move?

I can't implement bec's wonderful looking alternating day plan as I can't see how to do it.

If he goes to sleep I will get online and list my questions about it but it looks like we are in for a really late night so I will just have to go to sleep.

What on earth will I do tomorrow?

Pretty usual sort of thing, Katherine, something like this as an ideal:
6:30 WU
5:30 BT
5:30 WU
Nap (open to suggestions re: whether to cap, I would suggest yes, cap at length of current nap)
7:30/8 BT
6:30 WU
I can't implement bec's wonderful looking alternating day plan as I can't see how to do it.
Sorry you're having a rough BT. So if tonight is a late BT then FX tomorrow will be a decent/later WU. See in Bec's plan that there is a later BT anyway for a nap day so treat this day as nap day and follow it with a NND with a 5.30pm BT.
The next day you give a nap again.

Hope this helps.
And hope you all get some sleep tonight x

I should go to a nnd tomorrow if WU is later than 6.30? Or should I just stick with the 45 min nap again as usual?

Is the alternating nap day one day nap, one day no nap as written? Or do you base it on WU? So if your WUs are before 6.30am, you do a nap day, even if you had a nnd the day before, and so on?

When would you go to this plan anyway? Wdn't you shift nap later/cut nap down more/wait another two days etc. first before considering jumping to this?

Can you really go from a 6.30bt to a 7.30/8pm bt in one day? What a jump! I thought 15min increments?!?

I don't think we can manage a 5.30bt anyway.

Those are my main questions:

when and under what circumstances wd you go to such a plan?
do you alternate nd with nnd whatever the WU?
can you jump to a bt that's 1.5hrs later than what you've been doing for months just overnight?
etc.!

I think this is your best bet so you know exactly where you are up to each day and are not worried every day if it going to be a nap or no nap day. So literally just alternate. I'm sure that was Bec's suggestion.

When would you go to this plan anyway?
You can start today. I know we are in different time zones, but whenever your next day starts :)
He's shown some BT resistance so it's a good time to move on with the plan.

Can you really go from a 6.30bt to a 7.30/8pm bt in one day? What a jump! I thought 15min increments?!?
This plan to alternate nap and no nap is not a normal shift of the routine such as for clock change or for gradual extension of A time. This is a plan where naps are given on alternate days, your DS is likely a less tired on a nap day and more tired on a no nap day hence the 2 different BTs.  BT can jump to significantly earlier and significantly later when running a transitional plan such as nap/no nap. Don't worry most of us have had significantly different BTs like these in the plan.

I don't think we can manage a 5.30bt anyway.
Is this because it's hard to fit everything in in the evening or is it literally not possible for you due to work or other commitments?
We'd need to know if it is not going to be at all possible so we can plan something which works for you.

What time did he go to sleep in the end?

I'm far too scRed to change it up suddenly like that it's too scary.

He went to sleep at 8.

Last few times he went to sleep at 8, he woke 4.30/5.

5.30 wd be really hard with michaels work yes.

This routine expects an 11hr night on a no nap day. If you don't get that and wu is before 6.30 you are supposed to do a nnd? Too scared to do that.

Shd I really just go to this routine off back of one night bt resistance.

If you look at what happened two weeks ago when we did a nnd followd by nap it was a terrible mess with bt and wu all over the place and mostly 9.5-10.5hr nights. I'm too scared to do that again.

Why not drop the nap then? Scary but at least consistent. You could set bedtime (or a window) and introduce a Groclock to deal with EWs.

Far too scary to drop nap.

8pm bt with 5am wu. Can't put him to bed at 3.30!

Last nnd I tried bt was 6.30 and wu was 5am and it took us 3 weeks to recover.

Well, he's in the process of dropping it, it's where we're going to end up. Just thinking it may not be possible to improve thugs without some consistency - that was our experience of nap dropping (at 25 months and at 36 months) anyway. For ua, alternating never worked and we eventually had to take the plunge.

Is he sleeping badly through the night? Is he independent at bedtime etc? what about the Groclock idea, it was a lifesaver for us.
