Oatmeal

Just wondering when it's ok to introduce regular oatmeal?  DD is 8.5 months and has had no problems with any foods.

My DD has been eating oatmeal since just after she started on solids and had no problem with it. She used to eat it with milk for breakfast but I've now started giving her Ready Brek (ground down oats) which is fortified with lots of good vitamins and no added salt or sugar  :)

Go for it! I gave my little one oatmeal soon after introducing solids because rice made her a bit constipated.

My doc told me if rice constipated Jacob to try oatmeal.  Since my neighbour gave me a brand new unopened box of Milupa Oatmeal Stage 1 cereal, we started with it anyway.  No problem here!

We started oatmeal after DS tried rice cereal.  No problems with either one.

Will had oatmeal at 6 months as he was not fond or rice based cereals.. he adored it and would eat a really good amount of it so it was a great breakfast food for him. He had no probs whatsoever with it.

Thanks guys. Not sure if I was totally clear in my question - I meant adult-style oatmeal. She's had all different kinds of Milupa ceral (oat, barley, rice, mixed, wheat). I was just wondering if I could give her the stuff that I would eat, because obviously it's much more lumpy.

That's the type of oatmeal I was referring to. I don't like to waste money on baby cereals etc if the 'normal' version is as good. Obviously it's better if you can find a regular oatmeal that's fortified, and it is available in some healthfood stores  ;)
