My 1 yr old old has never been a good eater as she had severe reflux so when she would wake up in the night I would feed her as much as she wanted because this is when she would consume most of her calories.
Now that she is older and eating 3 meals a day and snack she is still getting up to eat.

Her schedule:
4-5:30am (always a different time) 8 oz
730 breakfast - cereal, fruit, yogurt
10 snack
noon am lunch veggies, protein, grains
2:30
5 dinner veggies, protein, grains
7 bottle 8 oz and bed

I feed her as much as she wants, but she still can't seem to get through the night and wake up at even 630 to eat. She always wakes sometime early morning 4-530 and then goes back to bed.

I would really like to try and get rid of this morning feed and push it as I am starting back at work in 3 weeks.

I have tried reducing the amount that i feed her at the morning feed to 4 oz and then try and feed her the rest of her bottle when she wakes at 7, but he refuses

How can I get more food in her during the day or is it time to reduce her formula intake?

Hi - I am in a similar position with my 9mth old son and I had exactly the same thing with my daughter (now 4.5) ::).  When my DD was about one, I started to dilute her night time drink bit by bit.  So the first night I gave her 8oz water and 7 scoops and did this for three nights.  Then dropped it to 8oz and 6 scoops etc.  By the end of two weeks I was offering her just water.  She really wasn't keen and only drank a little bit.  There was a bit of protesting for one night and then she didn't bother to wake at all!  Of course as time went on and we had night wakings again for one reason or another, I would just offer her a little water in a bottle which she would drink if she was thirsty but she learnt that there would be no more milk.

I intend to do the same trick with my son but at the moment he is a bit off his food so I am keen to keep his calories up.

Hope this helps...
