About when do you transition to 3 bottles?
« on: August 12, 2006, 16:36:28 pm »
My LO is 7.5 months old. We just dropped the DF (yay!), so are down to 4 bottles/day and 32 oz. I wondered when LO typically takes 3 bottles/day? I know we need to increase solids and I'm working on that, but wanted to have a guideline on when most babies are down to 3 bottles.
Owen, 12/28/05 7 lb 2 oz

The best guideline you will get is from us tell you when we dropped.

We were at 8months, the main sign being that he was fussing with 2 middle bottles....

Ryan dropped the second bottle of the day at 9 months ans shortly after dropped the third bottle of the day.He was just drinking less and less of these 2 bottles , so after solids he had a drink of water to wash down instead

Becky - Our DD is 8.5 months old and still has the 4 bottles  - 32 ounces.  It's good to see that others have kept the 4 as their LO's need it.  DD is doing well with solids - but obvioulsy still wants/needs milk.  Glad I am not alone.

The amounts of solids at that age isn't all that big. The solids are quite necessary cause of the iron, but the milk is still the most important food... I know babies at 8 months who still get all their bottles they got before 6 months and just have a few mouthfuls of solids

B still has four bottles per day.  And in his case he needs them.  I would follow your babies lead.  If LO seems to refuse the same bottle all the time then you can try to replace it with a cup.
