Baby won't go to sleep in cot!
« on: November 13, 2005, 12:37:04 pm »
Rhys is 7 weeks old on Monday and what ever I do, try, he will not go to sleep in his cot awake! I've tried the controlled crying method and he just screams to the point where he chokes and sicks!

During the night, if he wakes he will not go back in his cot, and as a result ends up sleeping in bed with me  :?

Please help, I'm at the end of my tether!

Have you tried doing the sh/pat method from the 3rd book?
Alana was exactly the same until I used that method.

I used to do it holding her at first and then once she was sleepy put her in and carried on, then I progressed to putting her in awake and doing sh/pat.

It does take a while and you need to do it for every sleep whether in the middle of night or day and it is hard work !

But it is worth it in the end and she never slept on me again!

Thanks   I've started using this technique and it does indeed work!

As soon as we put him on his side he closes his eyes straight away! it's amazing! we hardly have to pat / shush

All we need to do now is to work out how to get him to sleep right through, these 3 hourly feeds are killing me  :P

Dream feeds work wonders!  Have you tried doing that?
