Title: Scrolling avatar - wmv file?
Post by: Sharondp on October 23, 2007, 19:50:25 pm
I thought I was being all clever and just made a little move in Windows Media Player to use as my scrolling Avatar, but the site doesn't like it - does it have to be a GIF as I can't save it as anything but a WMV file, unless I can export it, but Fireworks & photshop won't open it!?
It was so easy to do in Media player too! :-\
Any suggestions?

It would have to be gif.  If you were using video as your source the only feasible way to do it would be to screencapture frame by frame those parts that you would like included and then import the screencaptures into Photoshop, crop and resize as necessary and then send it to Imageready.  If you were just importing photos into Media Player then just import them into Photoshop to create your avatar using the instructions Here.  Imageready is bundled with Photoshop version 7 and above.

I don't find Photoshop particularly easy. Is Fireworks any easier?  ???

It's horse for courses I suppose.  Personally I much prefer Photoshop (it's what I used to create the donation ticker at the bottom) but I agree that it can be hugely daunting.
