We made some oatmeal cookies today as weather is nasty outside. It called for 4oz wholewheat flour, all I had was rice and gram so did half and half. Cookies did not taste good! I had even added some extra sugar to mask the taste (I think it was the gram flour).
What flours do you normally substitue with? Or even a good DF,EF,GF cookie recipe? I am not particularly expecting Olly to eat them but he LOVES to help in the kitchen and it keeps us busy for half an hour ;D

I just buy a gf flour ( think its a blend of four different flours) I think it's called dove farm and I buy it at sainsburys. Haven't had too many issues with it - just makes things a bit drier so I just add a bit more liquid.

I have never suceeded in making non-crumbly oatmeal cookies (GF,DF,EF) but they do taste good...I use a mix of rice/sorghum/millet/coconut flours and applesauce in place of egg.

I cannot get the link to post but I like the flour recipe found at Wise Bread. Goggle "wise bread gluten free flour" and it should take you there. I like her French bread and pasta recipe too. I make up a big batch and keep it in the freezer. I cannot speak to oatmeal cookies but it makes good chocolate chip cookies.

My SIL uses sorghum ;)

I use Bob's Red Mill All-Purpose Baking Flour (it's a gf blend). I haven't made cookies yet, but have used it for other things and it has been good. If you go on the Bob's website, bobsredmill.com, you can do a recipe search, maybe they have some good cookie recipes there?

I am going shopping tomorrow so will buy some Doves farm I think - seems a lot easier as long as it is a good mix!
