Milk intake for 10 month old
« on: October 25, 2010, 00:48:33 am »
Lo is 10 months and 30 pounds. I know that till she is 1 yr she should be having a least 20 oz a day . This never was a problem before( even though she has always liked solids over milk), but lately if she drinks her whole 8oz afternoon bottle then she won't finish her before bed bottle and will wake up crying for a bottle at 6 am. She drinks 7 oz when she gets up sometime 8oz but not usually. I have been cutting her 2nd bottle down to 6 oz but it still affects her bed bottle, I think if I go down to 4 oz then I wouln't have a problem. I started giving her yogurt once a day and it the toddler one that equals 125 ml of milk. so with 7oz +4oz+8oz= 19 oz with the yogurt be enough?

That sounds fine to me.  You could also try to incorporate milk into her meals (like cereal if she eats it) and offer cheese in addition to the yogurt.  :)

I think most cheeses are fine.  You could try cottage cheese.  As for milk, I think a little cow's milk in cereal is fine as long as she has no intolerances to dairy, but as a drink is best left until a year.  Between those she should be getting a sufficient milk intake.  :)

DS likes soft cheese like Philadelphia cream cheese or Boursin spread on toast. Sometimes I put baked beans on it too.
Could you make her cereals with formula? That would probably be a good few ozs.

Great minds think alike eh? Cadan takes about 4oz (cows milk) in his cereals now.
I also make cheese sauce to go on spaghetti or cauliflower and Cadan loves that. He even eats chunks of cheese with cherry tomatoes sometimes. Or grilled cheese on toast.
You could also grate cheese on things like spag bol and mashed potato if she eats them. Cheddar (is that what you call block cheese?) is probably better than parmesan for an LO I think.
