Sorry ladies, it has been crazy!
G survived. The first day she woke up crazy early screaming at 6:15 and wouldn't go back to sleep or feed, just what I needed! (This baby has never been up for the day before 7am so it totally threw me!) She just couldn't get the hang of the bottle so had 2oz of formula from a doidy cup (I'd had no time to express as had been up working through the night). DH brought her to school at 12pm and she had a huge feed and then made up for it on the afternoon, I then went back to work for a few hrs and came back for more feeds and she had a good night.
Day 2 she had a go at the bottle and drank around 1.5ozs. So clearly not enough either day but she had something (I'd fed her at 5am both mornings when she woke). DH thought it was v hard work for her with the bottle so maybe it had something to do with the teats? It was a number 1 I think with one of those Tommee Tippee colic ones with the pipe/vent or something in. Maybe a faster flow teat would be better for her at this age?
So all in all we managed but I'm pleased we won't have to go through that craziness again. I'm disappointed that I had to give her formula but it was an emergency as I'm only a few weeks away from 6mos! It has helped us to prepare for me going back to work and so I know we have to work on bottles as we need to know that the can feed properly by February when I will be gone all day. So I think in a couple of weeks, we may try giving her one bottle a day to just phase it in.
Just totally shattered ladies but the great news is I was in my own bed all night last night! G had a feed at 3am and went back in her cot and when she woke I nearly
as it was 7:10am and I was in my own bed. She'd had a 5hr A before bed yesterday too!
Thanks for the vibes, they were really appreciated.
PS
Do you think it was the teat size that was the problem?
