Traci, no vegemite and marmite are a black toast spread that is yeast based and quite salty - it's a bit of an aquired taste.  I think it's found in the UK, Australia and NZ.  Nathan never liked it until recently, and then of course it contained Gluten  , but I have found a new type without the gluten.

Traci you are kidding me!! You take out the poop and put the diaper back on!!  OMG girl!!  My husband would be so thrilled if I told him and that and then all over me to do the same.  I'm so bad - I change their diapers after every bf (which comes after every nap) whether they need it or not.  If I change and diaper and then bath them before it's even noticeably wet dh wants me to put it back on but I can't because their bums are so clean - can't put a diaper that's been on a dirty bum onto a clean bum.  Drives him nuts!!!

So I'm not telling him you do this - I'll never hear the end of it!!

We get a few poops a day - still very mushy, Kaia had one hardish one yesterday and poor thing cried :( (Traci I assume yours are hard and you aren't scraping the poop off the diaper - btw, I'm lmao here!!)

Love the pic Erin!!! :)

I've been known to do this occasionally when Nathan was wearing disposables and I'd literally just put it on him and heard him grunt it out (now I use cloth on my two) and if it was hard I'd just drop it down the toilet.  :P

This is too funny.  I am sitting at my desk eating lunch reading about scraping poop off of diapers.  Yum!
Hannah

BTW I have an "issue" with putting a "dirty diaper" on a clean bum too.  I just can't do it, even if it's not even dirty...just already worn once :)

Ah the joys of being anal....pun intended :)

All this talk of poop is cracking me up, so I thought I'd chime in. We had some pretty hard ones a few days ago, but things seem to be back to normal. I think it was because I had introduced a couple new foods and her body was adjusting. I just gave her lots of oatmeal and veggies, and things are flowing again!

Erin--that picture is too cute!

Michelle--lucky you to have such wonderful ILs...have a great visit.

Here's my question for the day: When you are out and about during LOs naptime, and he/she falls asleep in the car, do you keep driving/stay out till they finish the nap, or do you come home and try to resettle? We went to lunch with some friends for one of their birthdays today. I was hoping we'd be home again in time for nap #2, but she fell asleep in the car about 10 min from home. This has happened before and I usually am prepared--have other "drive-thru" errands to run, or have a book and just part somewhere and read till she's through with her nap. But I was completely unprepared today. So, I just came home and tried to put her back down. Well she would have none of it. So, I let her play for another 20-30 min when she started getting tired again, I did the wind-down and tried to put her down again. But she still wouldn't go down. That's been 25 minutes ago now, and she's just lying in her crib blowing raspberries and talking to herself. I'm beginning to wish I'd just kept driving so she would have at least taken a nap. What do you guys do, or would you do, in a similar situation?

Sorry for the long post...just wanting some input and advice.

Nancy - we posted at the same time... :)

As for being out during naps, I have always done exactly what you usually do, if Brady falls asleep in the car before we get home, I literally just drive around until his nap is done, cause once the car stops he wakes up and if I want him to nap this is what I have to do. Now in saying that, dh has had Brady out once on the weekend and it happened to him so he came home as planned, took Brady out of the car, Brady woke up, and he just sat in the glider and rocked him back to sleep and it worked for him. Sooo, I thought of trying it once, didn't work for me at all, so I'm back to travelling around if need be till he wakes up. Never again trying that. lol

hey girls, tis only me. I will make this quick as dh nearl always gets home with the kids as I do this.
I think Ri is having some issues with me working, I say this as bedtime is becoming harder to do, she will not go down unless she has a feed and then snuggles. So I think I am going to try a leter bedtime for her, Jay is fine as he goes down well at night, but I nedd to do something as the first thing Ri does is lay down for a bf, even when I am carrying her into the house.
Hannah, glad to know work is going well.
Poops, well, Ri's are not too bad, but I cannot wait for Jay to be trained, I can't handle his poops for much longer...ewwwww!!!!...nuff said on that.
Traci, you can get marmite in the cooking section at the grocery store, it is considered a cooking product where it has yeastin it, and yes as nikki said, it is an aquired taste.
I realised this afternoon that I have got a fantastic job, about 3pm this afternoon, I was listening in on calls, to see how things worked out in "the real world" and not the classroom, anyhew, someone said it was fun friday, as I was enquiring about it, I see a cart LOADED with beer and coolers, no joke.....so there I was having a beer at work. And to top it off they said we could have more than 1....OMG....OMG.....OMG.....never has a beer tasted soooo good.
K....ladies I am off, I will see you all for our "date" tonight.

i was about to say "Judy give me some credit-no I'm not scraping" and then Nikki chimed in!  LOL (oops, just re-read-maybe Nikki wasn't scraping afterall!)

they are dumpable poops, I only do it if the diaper is relatively fresh, like 30 minutes.  there is rarely pee in it when i do this.  And no, i wouldn't do it just before bed-always a fresh one in that situation (post bath)

speaking of which-he just grunted-off to pick out some poop!

nancy-will post re driving tonight...

Re naps while out - I was never able to resettle Nathan, a 10min nap kept him going for another 2hrs!  With Danielle I often can resettle her if needed, but I try and avoid doing it at all costs, esp since if both of them fall asleep I'm screwed for the rest of the day and there's NO ME TIME LOL.

Traci, that's all right, you and I can be the gross ones!

We should go back and figure out how many posts we have on this thread that are devoted to poop - new moms are such an interesting bunch as far as conversation goes...

I always change poopy diapers too - and change them after a bath too.

Nancy - If I want Katie to keep napping I will drive around sometimes because I can NEVER get her back to sleep once we get home.  Of course she never takes as long a nap in the car anyway.

I'm hoping to make the chat later.
Bye now!

hee hee hee you all have made my day
Try to make this quick I am off to the doc to see why Ben has yellow boogers coming out of his eyes.
Ankie-Ben eats a lot some days and other days only 5 bites at each solid feeding, unless of course it is yogurt then his mouth is open before he has swallowed the food
Holly-so glad the lump was nothing
Bec-I was a teacher too.  Now I am only mentoring new teachers. (I am having lots of troubles with one of the teachers I am working with.  Wanted to make some mean comment about the fact that she was spelling many many words wrong during a lesson, then realized that I am supposed to be providing positive support!) I am a terrible speller so I won't be noticing your mistakes.
Erin-Our dog doesn't move either.  Ben has this exasaucer thingy that he can walk around a central play area and he practically runs over the dog and he still doesn't move.
Michelle-Your inlaws OMG you are soooo lucky.  My Dh had to hang up on his mom yesterday while she was crying because we told he that we wouldn't be able to make a brunch with her and my parents over the holidays.  We are going to be seeing them 4 other times though.
Hannah-YIPEEEE about work.  You are awesome
Nancy-Sometimes Ben transfers after a nap, sometimes I keep him awake and sometimes I let him play when we come inside then put him down after a little bit-I know that info really helped(sarcastic face!)
All the snow ladies-It looks like sooo much fun!
OFf to the doctor.  Will try hard to make my first ever chat tonight even if it only for a bit.
