Can my LO have dates?

Ok, I feel like this might be a stupid question, but none of my baby food books contain dates so I'm not sure if it's an ok food to give my DS. I had asked DH to buy dried apricots so I could stew and puree them, but he came back with dates.
Are these ok to do the same?
Thanks!

I can't find any without added sugar products on, so haven't yet given them, but will when I find them. Dreid prunes are also a firm fav here since 8mths old (stewed with apple at first, now just cut in half!)
