best way to bring bottle of EBM with me?6 hour delay...
« on: July 20, 2012, 10:34:19 am »
Just wondering what the best way would be to travel with a bottle of EBM?
i have to travel tomorrow and DH will be giving DD a bottle of EBM at 3pm. We will be leaving at 9.30am tomorrow mornign with no acesss to a fridge/freezer.
would i be better off to thaw the milk at home&put it in a cold bag? or should i keep it frozen&thaw it at 3pm for the feed?
thanks!

what you pump tomorrow morning can be at room temp for up to 8 hrs.

as for frozen/defrosted milk - I would thaw it overnight in the fridge, keep it in a cooler bag for the journey and then heat to room temp before the feed.

can't find any links for you but this is to the best of my knowledge...rushing out to docs appt now, sorry!

If it was me, I'd probably grab some out of the freezer and put it in a cool bag with some ice blocks to travel with.  By the time you need it, it will most likely have thawed anyway, but will still be kept cool and if it's not quite defrosted, just warm it to finish it off.
