Title: Which meal?
Post by: brightside on April 06, 2006, 10:01:23 am
What 'meal' time is the best to introduce solids? I currently feed at 7,11,3,7 and DF at 10. Is it better to do it straight after the bottle or say an hour after?

After a bit of trial and error, you'll find what works best for you and your LO. I always did 1 hr after breast/bottle so Tyler could get a bit of an appetite. I would have loved it if he could have taken solids right after, but it was just too much food and he wasn't hungry at all.

As for which time of day, your best bet is after the 7 AM or 11 AM bottle. This gives you all day to watch for allergic reactions or tummy issues.

I started with the 11:00 meal.  DD was always quite full after the 7:00 am bf & still will only eat a few Cheerios as a snack in the morning after that...  The 11:00 feeding is early enough in the day that you'll know of any adverse reactions.  I started solids immediately after nursing & still do that for her lunch.  It just works better for me not to have the feedings spread out so often...  ;)

Hey Cath,
When we start an actual "meal" we are going to do it after the 11:00 bottle-only b/c Abby is not a big eater in the morning.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes!  ;D
