how to dreamfeed?
« on: February 21, 2007, 13:09:53 pm »
Hi, can anybody give me advice how to dreamfeed without waking the baby?  ???
My LO is two weeks old, I'm breastfeeding (not giving him bottle yet, will try this next week), and he just too out to take the breast - he's in deep sleep...
So how do I make him eat without actually waking him up? Can it also be time-dependent (perhaps in one portion of his sleep cycle he can be more easily convinced to eat? )

Thanks a lot !
Inna

Have you tried stroking his cheek? That normally worked for me.  When it didn't work, I actually changed his diaper (with lights off and no stimulation).  Yes, it did wake him but he fell right back to sleep when he started eating and the added bonus was that he didn't soak through as much.  After about a week of doing this he got use to feeding in his sleep and I no longer needed to do the diaper change.
