Im on the edge...
« on: August 21, 2006, 22:27:11 pm »
Of trying CIO. I know I shouldnt and I probably would never. I mean after she is only 2 months old. But I cant take it anymore. Its not like she is my first, I just cant hold her all day. I guess my question is what do you do when you cant extend a 30 min nap. I am standing over her crib all day long trying to put her to sleep or get her back to sleep. Im sorry but this is enough to drive and sane person insane. Im missing out on all the fun I should be having with my lil one and my older DD. So she eats, plays, then I put her to bed within 50 minutes and she usually can fall asleep on her own with a lil bit of help from patting or rubbing head. Is is possible she only needs 30 min naps? Anyone have a LO go to a 4 hour easy at this young age? Im so upset and basicly if I follow EASY I will never get anytime. Its been 10 weeks and nothing. Here is an example of a bad day.

E - 7
A- 7:10
S - 8 SHE WAKES AT 8:30

so then Im right back in her room at 9:30 starting all over again, make sense?

Should I stop following the standard 1 hr wake time for my age LO and just stare at her till her first yawn?
My house is a mess, my 2 yr is getting very jealous and my back is killing me. I really need some incite ladies. I can get her to fall asleep just fine...how do I keep it w.o giving in and bringing her into my bed. How do you do easy when she wakes every 30 mins. I know she can sleep longer because there are days where I have perfect naps.
if Im rambling I apologize, Im a very stressed out woman and I dont think I can handle it. BTW I dont have any help. Dh gets home at 8:30 pm by then its too late.
Thanks for any advice or hugs, Ill be quiet now
Jodi

Poor stressed out momma! Sounds like you definitely need a breather.  As I was reading your post you said something that just popped out at me :

Should I stop following the standard 1 hr wake time for my age LO and just stare at her till her first yawn?

Of course you should!! EASY isn't about following the exact times that are written in the book, it's about setting up a routine for your baby, following your baby's needs and personality. If she can handle and even needs a longer A time in order to take a longer nap then by all means do it.  All babies are "wired" differently, some need tons of sleep some not as much, it's all about learning to read your baby and she what she needs. EASY is a routine that helps babies to sleep independently and have predictability in their day, and it also factors in some much needed Mommy time.

Tomorrow, after her first feed watch her during her A time and she how long it takes her to give you sleep cues, then the same in the pm, she may surprise you and just need a longer A time.

Hang in there hun.....we're here for you
