Early waking driving me crazy
« on: May 10, 2014, 05:05:56 am »
Morning ladies I write this message with my whole family fast asleep
Accept my 20 month old and I .

For as long as I remember our wake ups have been terrible and I blame it on jumping to her as soon as she squeaks ! But this is mostly bec I do not want my
3 and 5 year old waking up too .

Our routine is generally

5:35-6:15
Wake ups
Lunch 12
Nap 13:00-15:00/16:00
Bedtime 19:00/20:00

What shall I try :-) please
Xx

Hi there

I'm sorry you're having such a tough time.

Looking at your day I'm wondering whether your LO is OT? 9/10h nights here alway an indicator of OT. Iiwm I would consider bringing the nap and BT forward a tad and keep yen day at 13h max.

So something like:

WU: 5.35-6.15
Nap:12/12.30(capped at 2.5h)
BT: 13h after WU (6.35-7.15pm) or earlier if the nap is short.

What do you think?

Hena

Just letting you know you're not alone. Maybe it's the 18 month sleep regression happening later? Is your LO teething? My LO will be 20 months in a few days, and his wake up time is 5:30 lately. Naps are 1.25-1.75 hours, and BT is 6-7pm. Nothing has really helped, I think it's because he's cutting his canines...

Given that she's cutting her cainines it could be discomfort is not helping. Have you tried dream meds?

It's where you give the LO medication whilst they are still in bed/half alseep, a bit like dream feeds if you ever did them? So for us I would  typically set my alarm for 3am/3.30am (painful I know), give R meds (I use a syringe which causes her minimal disturbance as I don't have to sit her up completely as I would to use a spoon) and then leave. I found this helped R sleep through to a decent WU as the discomfort of teeth was reduced enough.

So what do you think?

Yes we did (we have EW ATM as he's been poorly) but I think when the EW started it's OT and for us was a push for less day sleep! So I'm gonna do same today cap nap and bring BT forward so 13hr day so 6:45 for us today (I also actually put him in bed 15min before the time I want him asleep?) back when he was 2minths some days we had 5:30 BT and he slept till 6-so still early wu but getting more sleep-then I could start to push back nap etc! You'll get there but it'll take a few days!! Gutted that sickness has pushed us back ATM :( xxxx

Hon i really think you need to keep the day at 13h max even if you think it's too early. One having such a long day can be counterproductive and lead to OT.

Give it a go for a few days with the nap capped as previously suggested and see how it goes xx

What about bringing nap forward too? 12:30 instead of 1? Would this help ?
