Whats the best way to handle night wakings due to teething?
« on: November 22, 2005, 21:38:20 pm »
My DS is almost 8 months, and although hes not teething yet i just wanted to ask some advice on the best way to handle it. Im asuming my DS will start to wake 'more' (hes never slept through and still feeds at night but it is genuine hunger) if hes in discomfort but i dont want to get into the habit of feeding him more than i already do to pacify him. So how does everyone handle this? Do i just try to comfort? Im dreading this and know its going to happen very soon but dont want to get into any bad habits as ive worked so hard  :?

If you know it's teething, you can give some pain reliever at bedtime to prevent some of the waking.

Otherwise, I'd just be careful to not change his feeding schedule (if he only feeds once a night, don't start feeding him 3x a night), and use other ways to comfort him at the extra wakings.  There's not much you can do, just try to survive it without getting into any bad habits....
