What to do when they refuse
« on: April 10, 2007, 11:31:28 am »
I would like advice on what to do if your toddler refuses to eat any of the meal you place in front of them. If I make a selection of food for my son and he either refuses to try it or eats only one or two bites even though he is showing me he is hungry I am not sure what to do. Should I still offer dessert of fruit and yoghurt or is this encouraging him to only eat sweets? Do I really just let him out of the highchair without eating anything? What do I do? I would appreciate any tips.

Personally when my LO refuses to eat what is offered and he's just playing with it or throwing it, etc... I will remove his high chair food tray for a few minutes and say "oh you're not ready to eat". I will then place it back after a few minutes and say "it's time to eat". If he again refuses I will repeat. I will repeat 4 or 5 times if I know he is hungry and if he still refuses then I end the meal.
