bananas and oatmeal cereal?
« on: February 02, 2006, 00:43:05 am »
Hi,
I was shopping for baby food the other day and there was a jar of baby food that read "Bananas and Oatmeal cereal"
Tjis might be silly but I was just wondering what it was?  Is it the same as giving them cereal with bananas mixed in, or just a thicker banana.
Another question; Custard?  Is it just a dessert for them?
I know this sounds crazy but I am just learning about this stuff??
thx

Hi there

I don't know about what is in the jar but I make a Banana and Oatmeal breakfast for my DS - it is just like making oats porridge and then mixing through mashed banana.  I also throw in some sultanas.  It is my DS's all time favourite breakfast!!

As for custard - I have not given any because I can't find one without any sugar added.  But I would guess you could offer it any time - there aren't any rules about what food gets eaten when.

HTH

I can't say for sure but usually these jars use oat flour and are smoother than oatmeal with smashed banana.  You should check the ingredients too because some may have egg yolk in them which is great once they're over 6mo for protein but I don't think they can have it before.
