At what age do they usually drop the evening catnap?
« on: March 20, 2007, 22:42:04 pm »
Hi Everyone,

DD is 6.5 mo old now and is doing well on a 4 hour EASY.  Lately, she seems to be more awake in the evenings, fighting sleep more at that time.  What are the signs that she's ready to drop her catnap?  If we do this, do I bump her bedtime up by a little, at least in the beginning?

Here's a rough view at our days:

E: 7:30a - BF, then solids about 1 hour later
A
S 9:30
E noon - BF, then solids
A
S 2pm or so
E 4pm - bottle of EMB, then solids
A
S 6pm
E 7
A bath
S 7:30pm
DF 11pm

Of course, not everyday is the same, but we usually have a good pattern.  She's a textbook baby who sleeps a good amount in the daytime.

Thanks for any input.

Maddy

Hi Maddy,

Yup, sounds about ready to drop that catnap - 6 months is fairly typical, also for dropping the dreamfeed... just another thought (one step at a time though  ;) )

I would try to extend her A time after lunch a bit so the nap winds up ending closer to bed time, KWIM?  Then move the last E and bedtime up a bit so she can make up some sleep overnight.

Good luck!  :-*
