Erratic NWs with 5 month old - return and check

Has anyone tried the return and check method to solve night wakings? As in going in, soothing, then leaving straight away but returning if LO cries etc?

I'm not sure I understand exactly what you mean :-\

I did this:
DS woke and mantra cried, I left him
DS' cry escalated to 'I need you', I went and soothed him and once calm, left.
Often he would go to sleep, but if he cried again, I went in and soothed again.

Do you know why your LO is waking? OT/UT/discomfort/hunger? What's your EASY at the moment?
