do you swaddle tummy sleepers?
« on: March 23, 2006, 19:30:34 pm »
My ds was just diagnosed with reflux and we were told to sleep him on his stomach.  I'm completely okay with this because my dd went through the same thing, but I can't remember when we stopped swaddling her.  I know we had trouble keeping her swaddles so we stopped fairly young.  Ds is 10 weeks old and sleeps great at night swaddled though we haven't tried it unswaddled.  I just switched him to his tummy today and am wondering if I should still swaddle or not.  We've been having to get him to sleep and not do any sleep training due to him being in pain, but I'd like to start getting him to do more on his own and am wondering if he'll not like being swaddled on his tummy while falling asleep or if they just get used to it just like back sleepers.  Thoughts?

hi stacie,

seems to me that you aren't supposed to swaddle tummy sleepers since it increases the risk of SIDS...  maybe try a sleep sack instead?  that way you can still enclose him a little bit...
