4:45 WU - What to do today?
« on: May 12, 2014, 16:39:06 pm »
This morning DD woke up crying at 4:45 and did not settle back to sleep despite rocking and teething meds >:( Her routine is usually WU 6/6:30, S: 12-2, BT 7 and asleep by 7:30/8. The last few days she's taken ages to settle for BT (closer to 8:30) which could be due to a cough or needing BT pushed out (not sure which). On Saturday, she woke at 5 with a cough but did settle back to sleep for a while. I tried an earlier BT (6:30 which has almost always worked in the past on short nap days) since she only did 1h20 for a nap but she still didn't sleep until 8:30. She's at daycare today so she won't have a chance for a short am nap to cut down OT like I would do at home so I'm anticipating a short pm nap. If she has a short pm nap when should we do BT? If she has a longer than usual nap, what would be a good BT?

Small silver lining - I am missing almost half of my class today so at least I have an easier day at work ;) I was a little worried about how I'd hack a school day being awake so early.

Sorry - 20 months.
Her daycare worker just called me and said she's coughing quite a bit and bringing up phlegm :( She didn't cough much this morning but I wonder if that was part of the problem.

I would probably shoot for a 6pm BT or earlier (if you're brave enough) and if the nap is short.

Nap was barely an hour. DH is picking her up right away so I told him to try for a second nap but I doubt that will work. I'm pretty brave when it comes to EBT so I'll aim for asleep by 6.

Unrelated to sleep, would you go to the doctor for a phlegmy cough or just wait it out?

That's a tough one to call without being there  - If it's really bothering her or you're worried at all I wouldn't hesitate to take her

Good luck x

Shockingly, she fell asleep for a second nap at 3. It's now 4. How long should I let her sleep? When should I try BT?

I woke her at 4:30. What would be a reasonable BT?

Personally I wouldn't go later than 6.30 or earlier if she's tired which she might be after the EW and two short naps.

Hth and that I'm not too late x

I put her down around 6:30 and she took a while to settle to sleep and had a crying NW at 4 but then she slept in a bit this morning (up at 7:30). Her nap wasn't great though so I did BT as early as I could tonight and I hope she has a good night.

Thanks for your quick replies yesterday.

We had a better night last night and I threw in a 20 min CN this morning to help her catch up and she's reaching 3 hours for her nap! If she's not up by 3:30/3:45, I'll probably wake her. What would be a good BT with such a long nap?

What time was WU?

I know she's catching up but I'd be a bit careful not to let her have too long. You don't want to end up in an UT/OT cycle.

She was up sometime around 6/6:30 yesterday. I ended up putting her down at 7 and she settled to sleep before 8 (not bad compared to what she was doing last week) and slept until 7:30 this morning!!! She must have really needed the catch-up more than I thought. I was expecting a 6 am WU or slightly earlier after a nap like that.
