Hey ladies....i just don't know what's happening to my Caleb...the kid has STAMINA!!! Ughhh, he's always been really low on the A times and was quite behind for his age(in terms of awake times)...now, he's doing really loong A's, showing no tired cues and doesn't even seem crabby or fussing, so I am to assume that he's not tired, right? But this makes for such loooong awake times and then late naps and then, late bedtimes, which I really don't like...like tonight, he went down at 8:20pm..and also doesn't seem to be making up for it at night as he's gone back to his infamous 10.5h nights!
All week, i've had to wake him from all of his naps, he's not woken on his own ONCE this week...today, he did a one hour nap in the am and then I was aiming for an A time of 3.30-45, so not to have him nap too late ( like yesterday's pm nap until 5pm...yikes!!), well, of course, he throws himself a crib party right after our windown and is laughing and rolling around, right until the 4hour A time mark and then falls asleep...I woke him after 1h15 cause it was coming up to 4:30pm and I was trying to preserve bedtime...at which point, he did the same thing...laughing and playing...until 8:20pm. All this playtime in the crib, even after longer than usual A times, is telling me he's not tired enough, right?
Just a few weeks ago, my daily struggle was that A times were soo short and he would be done his naps too early in the day, around 2-2:30 and it was soo hard to get to bedtime...now, we've got the opposite problem, with him staying up all afternoon and napping late.....it's feast or famine! When and if someone ever figures out the secret to the 2-1 transition, boy will they ever be rich!! lol
Sounds like you ladies have a couple of options working for you at least....it's a matter of picking one and sticking with it i guess. I think it's time for me to let go of my " one hour am and one hour pm " dream and start shortening one nap dramatically. Also, at this age, is it reasonable to still expect 12 hour days and 12 hour nights? It looks like a lot of LO's in the 2-1 are doing 13 hour days.
