Night Wakings
« on: July 02, 2007, 15:31:41 pm »
I've read so many postings and STILL can't figure this whole BW thing out!!  My 11week old LO has completely mastered the 3 hour routine, both during the day AND the night.  Awake at 7/8 am, E and A for a total of 1.25 hours, down for sleep usually for about 1-1.5 hours.  He goes right down and everything is peachy throughtout the day.  We start the nighttime ritual around 5pm, feed again around 7pm (will wake if have to) bath, then 'top up' feed again at 8:30pm.  I do a DF at 11pm.  My LO will then wake around 2am.  I am still feeding because he seems hungry (accidental parenting I think now) and I put him down.  He will wake in 20 minutes and be WIDE awake and take about 1 hr to get back into sleep mode.  He will do this again around 5 am.   I have tried just patting and giving him the paci at 2 am but he will just keep waking every 10-15 mins until his 5 am feed.  Help this has been going on since we've started the BW routine- about 5 weeks - and we're about to lose our minds from lack of sleep!!!

Hi  :)

Welcome to the boards!!

I am a bit confused looking at your routine.
When you say that you start nighttime routine at 5 and then feed at 7 but will wake if you have to...what does that mean.
At his age his routine should look something like this:
E 7:00 wake and eat
A
S 8:30 nap (1.5 hours)
E 10:00
A
S 11:30 (1.5 hours)
E 1:00
A
S 2:30-45 (1.5 hours)
E 4:00
A
S 5:45 or 6 catnap of 30 min
E 6:15
A bedtime routine
E 7:00 (cluster feed)  finish bedtine routine and in bed at 7:30
E 10:00 or 10:30 df

Does your routine look like this?
At 13 weeks it is possible that he could need 2 night feeds.
Post back and I will try to help.
