Screaming at meal time
« on: November 05, 2006, 01:53:54 am »
Hello

My 10.5 mth old has started to scream hysterically while in her high chair at meal time.
I place in her high chair for a meal, she sits no problem, I put on her bib and start to feed her. About a quarter way through the meal she starts to scream at the top of her lungs. At first i thought that it was the food I was feeding her, but then I realized that she does it all the time no matter the food or who is feeding her.
Is this just a phase? At first I was reacting her and now I just keep on feeding her or doing what I was doing without reacting. Nothing seems to be working.
Should I just ignore this and hope it goes away?

Thanks

Does she feed herself at all? Perhaps give her a spoon to hold so she feels like she is involved.

Meal time consists of finger foods as well as spoon feed. I feed her with a spoon as well she has her own spoon.

My lo does the same thing off and on.  Most of the time if he does it I take it as a sign that he is done.  If he has not eaten a lot I will try to calm him down, usually I bribe him with stars, and then I will try feeding him again.  Most of the time that does the trick.  Sometimes not, at that point I usually give up and offer his bottle a tad bit earlier.  I am not sure what I am doing is the best, but it seems to be working for us at the moment.

HTH,
Kimberly
