visiting advice please
« on: October 10, 2006, 14:34:11 pm »
Hi! Ds and I have been working on easy and sleep training for a few weeks now.  I want to go visit my mom soon, and stay about a week(shes a couple hours away)  I've got a lot of anxiety about our hard work going out the window during and/or after the visit.  I plan to stick to routine as best as i can, but worry-will ds sleep there?  How can we visit with nanny for the week and not regress? Any advice would be great thanks

I totally understand how you feel.  I just got back from visiting my parents for a week.  To be honest, things probably won't go as smoothly as they do at home.  However, if you stay consistent and do things the same way you do them at home, it will really help.  When you get back just keep on keeping on.  ;)  Try to just enjoy your trip and don't stress too much if things get a little off.  And, hey, your lo just might surprise you!

thanks for writing. I do expect things to be a little nutty-if not a lot-but will try not to stress about it i guess. i tend to worry and think too far ahead sometimes! I will try to do my best to keep the sequence of things the same for ds, and hopefully it will be ok :-\

hi there
when we go to visit my parents or dd stays overnight at MILs, I always make sure she has the little things she is familiar with. For example, she has 3 CDs in her room that we choose from to listen to while I wash & dress her in the morning, I always take those with me. I always do her bedtime routine exactly the same way, so she plays in her cot with a few toys (I take those with me so she is familiar) and listens to her CDs while I prepare her bath, then we have the bath and I take her favourite 2 bath toys along, then I dress her and we have her bottle whilst listening to her lullabies. It's never failed yet- she has always slept just as well as at home!
hope you have a good trip xxx
