How do I get my BF baby to take an occaisonal bottle?
« on: November 16, 2006, 14:04:06 pm »
I am getting ready to start graduate school (only doing one class at a time), and will need my ds to take an occaisonal bottle.  I left my husband with a bottle of formula the other day and ds would not take it.  He is 7 weeks old and has never really taken a bottle before.  He waited until I got home to eat and was VERY upset by the time I got here (it had been 4 hours since his last feed.  I do have a pump, but it tends to make me sore.  When is the best time to pump if I want him to have breast milk in a bottle?  Any suggestions?

Here are some tips from the breastfeeding FAQ page on getting your baby to take a bottle:

Here is a link on pumping, but I'm not sure that is what you are looking for.

Are you single side feeding?  Can you feed on one side in the AM and pump the other side?  That's the best time to pump as your milk is most abundant then.  You may also want to look into another pump if this one is not suiting you properly.
