Title: BFing and teething
Post by: lily_layne on April 09, 2013, 16:20:22 pm
My LO is teething right now and she's nursing a lot more than usual (and less interested in solids).  She usually only nurses 4 times a day and the last few days she's constantly clawing and pulling at my shirt to nurse.  (It's actually kind of cute - if I'm wearing a nursing shirt she can pull it down herself and then launches herself on me :))  Is this a normal part of teething?

Yes, it is. The suckling alleviates the pain from teething. Try giving her some tylenol and something cold.

Yes, it is normal.  When they're uncomfortable from the teething, feeding gives both comfort and milk, which does contain some properties which help with pain.

Thanks.  I figured the sucking was comforting but I didn't realize the milk helped with the pain.
