hey i'm curious what you guys use for lunch boxes for preschool. DS will be starting school at 35 months. he has pretty good fine motor skills.

i'd love to put in a nice note for him (ie I LOVE YOU, MOMMY) but he can't read yet obviously so any ideas on that?

DS is a good eater but love to hear some ideas for preschool lunches!

maybe instead of writing a note that he can't read, you could put in a photo of you and him together having a cuddle?  I know when my children see their photos, they always smile.

My DD is almost 31mths old and while she doesn't go to daycare or anything, I do make a lunch box for her as her big brother goes to kindy.  I put in little sandwiches, yoghurt, sultanas or other dried fruit.  Watermelon, strawberries or other fruits that won't go brown, vege sticks, like carrots, cheese and biscuits.  It all depends on what we are doing. Biscuits, chips (like rice crackers) etc.

Anything that he will eat at home and can be put into a lunch box, I would put in.  I guess you have to work out if there is a fridge to keep the food cold may determine what you put in.

Most of the lunch boxes have a zipper to open and close, which is fairly easy.

Write the note!  Before he starts school make word cards, I, Love, you, Mommy.  go over them with him.  In one day he will be able to recognise these words.  Then write I Love you on a piece of paper and ask him what this says.  He probably already knows the first word.
