Help with my 5 month old!!
« on: January 24, 2015, 14:59:40 pm »
My 5 month old DD is making me soo confused and i don't know what im doing wrong or need to change!

Her routine:

E 7am
A
S 9.15/30 (either 1hr 15mins long or 2 hours!?)

E 11.30
A
S 1.30 (depending when she woke from previous nap but A time is 2hrs 15/30mins. She ALWAYS wakes at 40mins and i have to resettle her back to sleep every single time and i usually get 1.5hr But it usually ends up me holding her the rest of the nap and its very unsettled!)

E 3.45
A
S no catnap anymore!

E 6.30
A
S 6.45

No df or nf- however shes started wakening soooo much in the night and we reinsert her dummy and she goes back over but could happen 10times? Generally she would have woke close to 5am for her dummy and we just reinsert and that would be her until 6-7am but now it could be anytime- last night she woke at 11.45pm ?!?! Then every hour after thAt!
She doesnt cry when she wakes, just talks to herself so sometimes i dont even know how long shes been awake!!!

She is FF and has been on solids for 3 weeks (porridge or fruit mainly 3 x day). She falls asleep herself, just needs her dummy.

Is this down to the 3/2 transition?
Do i need to increase A times?

Please help im at a loss and im so tired  :(

Hi these LO like to keep us guessing don't they.

I'd say that if your first nap is 1.15 that's UT but if 2 hours spot on. If you get a decent nap then is guess 2nd nap is poss bit UT and add few mins onto A time.

Do you try EBT as she could be waking from OT if no CN as your last A is quite long compared to others, maybe try a BT of 6pm see what happens!? x

Yesterday i did an A time of 2hr 20mins and i got a 2 hour nap but today i did it again and got 1hr 15mins so ive no idea what thats means!?

Im just worried about increasing A time as its quite high for a 5 month, or does it seem normal?
She gets sooo tired at 2 hours but i just push it to 2hours 20 or 30mins.
Should i try 2 hour 40mins?

I havent tried an EBT, just worried she would wake ridiculously early? Shes wakening at 5amish anyway and i need to resettle so i suppose i should try it and see what happens as these night wakening are horrible!

Sometimes I don't think we ever know!! 1.15 isn't a bad nap really, so is prob stick with 2.20/2.30 A for a good week see if gets longer. If it's less than 1.5 nap you could take 10/15 mins off A times so not OT off next nap.
LO vary so much on A times, 2.30 is prob average but can be more it less.

EBT can often help things as they go to bed not OT and then get into a better restful sleep, if she slept 11 hours you'd still get 5am WU but a better rested night and that's better to start your days A times on.

Is she learning any new skills as that can often interrupt naps and night sleep?x

I dont mind a 1 hr 15 min nap at all, but its just trying to get her past the 40mins in the next nap is my problem really atm!

I think i might try an EBT as she really is soo OT at bedtime, but thankfully she doesnt cry she just zonks out as soon as i put her down.

Shes trying to roll from back to stomach and ive noticed her lifting her head up when shes lying down!?

You can still do a CN too on days that you don't get full naps.  It's very normal to go back and forth for awhile during transitions.

I think she is teething but shes not a baby that cries alot so i dont know, she drools alot and rosy cheeks so ive been putting teething gel on anyways.

She cried going down for a nap there, so unlike her :(

I'd try some meds before nap and in the night see if it helps x

(((Hugs))), nights like that are so hard for everyone. Have you completely cut the CN? Just wondering if there might be some built up OT in there as well. :-\

(((Hugs))), have you given her new foods in the last several days since the NWs started? It really seems like some sort of discomfort. :-\ Are her poos ok? The only other thing I notice is the paci, but I don't think it becomes a prop like that overnight. Can you post her EASY for the last few days?

Hang in there hon, she'll come back around.
