Refusing to nap in crib
« on: October 25, 2005, 19:04:51 pm »
Hi, I am hoping someone will have some suggestions for me. For the last few weeks my 4 month old daughter will not nap in her crib. We start the slow down process as soon as signs of sleepiness appear, but if I put her in her crib in turns into, what is beginning to feel like, a battle of wills. It can take as long as 40 minutes to get her to sleep. I do sssh pat and PU/PD with her but is 40mins of this to long? Should I continue doing this, or wait until the next nap time a try again. She will nap with ease in my bed. I will go through the slow down process, and she will usually go to sleep with 5-10minutes.

I feel bad. I know this is my fault. I should never have put her down in my bed.

I appreciate your help.

How many naps a day?

How is her nighttime sleep?

Does she use a pacifier?

Did she used to fall asleep independently in her crib?

How much awake time between naps?

3 naps a day- 45min at 9am   90 min at 12n and 3pm (sometimes less)

Night time-10 hours with a wake up around 2am - sometimes to fed sometimes not.

She uses a pacifer in the crib only.

A night she falls asleep independently in the crib never a problem. Naptime is a totally different story. She refuses to fall asleep in the crib. Which why out of desperation I started putting her down in my bed. In my bed in will fall asleep independently almost instantly.

She is awake between 1 1/2 to 2 hours between naps.

Thanks- Cheryl
