Title: help please, school run clash with easy!
Post by: deemum on November 09, 2006, 19:11:44 pm
Hi, Some advice please. my dd is 10 weeks and is currently on this routine (roughly)
7am - up & feed E
7.30 - activity A
8.30 - nap S

10am - up & feed E
10.30 - activity A
11.30 - nap

1am - feed E
1.30 - activity A
2.30 - nap S

4pm - feed E
4.30 - activity A
5pm - short nap S

6pm - feed E
6.30 - bath A
6.45 pm - top up E
7pm - jammies A
7.15ish - bed S

my problem is that starting in the next week or two, I will have to start doing the school run for my ds. this will clash with some naps. basically i could put her down for 8.30 for nap but have to transfer her to car for 9 and again in the afternoon, i could put her down in cot at 2.30 but have to mover her for three. does anyone have any ideas how i can deal with this?
thanks,
Dee

hiya! i think it would be ok to take some naps in the car/stroller or how ever u take DS to school. Do u have a car seat that detaches? u could put her to sleep in that then just strap her into the car? Is there no way someone could watch her one of these naps?
I'm not sure about changing ur routine, looks good to me but if it was a necessity u could do that. How long is the round trip of the school run?

No, Unfortunatly i have no one to watch her. the round trip would be half an hour or so except for when i need some groceries too (living out in the country). i do have the car seat as you describe but i didn't want to get her in the habit of sleeping in it for two naps - may have no choice though. as it is she rarely naps for more than an hour but this is an improvement she used to only nap for 30 - 45 mins.

thanks, yaya she's a textbook so it doesn't seem to throw her off much, she will fall asleep like clock work at these times if she was upside down!

i was just feeling bad about her missing two decent naps by not being in her cot but there's very little i can do about it

Dee,

I would do as Yaya suggested and transfer her to her carseat once she has fallen asleep - do this for a few days and see how you get on.

If you are find that this is not working for you, then you may have to tweak your routine.

I would not try change her routine unless you find that the above is not working for you especially if she is really so settled into the routine as you said.

Keep us posted on how you get on.

We're having the same issue here 3 mornings a week. #1's school run is right in the middle of both of her naps. I just put her in the car seat at nap time and leave a few min early if she's getting cranky and really ready for a nap. I hate letting her fall asleep there, but that's just the way it goes!

Hi there,

I understand where you are coming from. It must be frustrating when you are trying to sort out the routine. It might be worth posting in the two under two thread to see how others managed it.

Good luck.
