Title: Sharing cute things our toddlers do
Post by: ethanandmarkusmom on August 24, 2006, 06:17:27 am
Every time Ethan comes up with something so funny or brilliant I need to share with someone, no one is around. My dh is working and can't be interrupted, as well as all of my friends. I thought this might be fun to have everyone share cute stories. I'll start...

I asked Ethan today - "how did you get so cute?" - he replied - "oh, it was just from my haircut mommy."

Too funny. Can't wait to hear and share some more.

It wasn't my toddler but I found that soooo cute so I'll write it down anyway...

Mummy, daddy and toddler on the breakfast table. The toddler can't eat anymore of his bread and asks his mum: "Do you want the rest of my bread?"
The mum responds: "No you have to ask dad"
The toddler: "Dad, can mummy have the rest of my bread?"

Tonight when I asked Tyler to lay down to put on his diaper for bed, he looked at me all serious and said "Try again, Mommy." So I rephrased..."Lay down for your diaper PLEASE." And he did. :) Guess I oughta practice what I preach!

One of these afternoons, I say to Julian, my 2 yr old son, "I'm going to fall like a log today" (I'm translating for a Spanish phrase, meaning I was very tired)...and he goes, "Oh no Mommy, you won't fall down, I'll take care of you".   ;D He's so cute!

We were at dinner recently. As dinner was ending, out of no where, Henry said, "I'm a hot chicken bawk bawk!!!!"

Yesterday he was playing with his new marbles. He said, "Mama, I need nother narble."

And toddlers are tobbelers to Henry.  ;D

Last one - when people ask Henry his name, he always replies, "I'm Henry and this is my Mama." That one warms my heart every time.

DD has started to say "No Mammy Please" then will think about it and say "No Mommy Thank you". The other day I told her in Italian ( was none too pleased with dh) " andiamo a mettere una bomba sotto il culetto di Daddy" she turned to me and said " What will we put under Daddys bum Mammy?", I almost died laughing but was so proud that she translated the whole sentence except the one word she didn't know. My dd is a complete chatterbox and repeats everything I say verbatim so life is fun, our current favourite is " How were your holidays Mammy?" Fantastic how were yours? " fantastic", where did you go? Often she will say Giovinazzo where we went and often she will say MegaMart! ;D

My DD is (almost) obsessed with symmetry.  So when we put a shoe on one foot, she will automatically say 'other one'.  When she gets her toenails clipped on one foot, you simply must do the 'other one' and jutts her other foot out.  Of course, the phrase comes out as 'aarr-won' which is adorable.  :-*

We are house hunting me and dd and I have all my notes re each house seen in a small blue notebook, today she was sitting on the bed while I was on line, she took the notebook and said " Mammy Leah needs a 3 bedroom villa, fully furnished with a curtain and a garden". I almost fell off the bed, guess she has been taking notes. Now we found the house but I guess I should have sent her to negotaite a better deal  ;D

DD loves picking flowers and tucking them behind her ears and insist that mommy and daddy do the same as well.  And we would look "purtty now".  I love this age!

Not much talking here yet.  But every morning we go into her room, she scrambles to grab her lovey and toss him out of the crib.  Then mom/dad tosses it back in.  Repeat with Charlotte giggling like a maniac.  She made this up herself.   If you ask her if she has tossed 'Phant out, she usually says "yeah!"

This happened 2 nights ago, and I haven't been able to stop laughing about it yet!
We (dh, ds and I) were having our nightly snack in the living room, TV on, before bed.  We all sit on the couch together, and we are VERY careful of the images that Nathan see's from the TV - no violence, no yelling, no anything that could be construed as scary to a toddler.

We generally end up watching Friends.  Pretty innocent to a 2 year old that doesn't understand alot of the words, but see's basically happy people.

Ok, long story short, Ross kissed Rachel - a long, passionate kiss.  Nathan straddles my lap, puts his chubby little hands on my cheeks, TURNS HIS HEAD SIDEWAYS, and plants one on me!!!! ;D ;D ;D  Then he started moving his head back and forth (like he was giving me a very passionate kiss!).  I laughed so hard I almost cried. ;D ;D :-*

Good thing I'm already on the floor Tonya!!!!!!!    ;D ;D  Tonight Charlotte was patting Scout the cat.  Then she snuggles her head on her, puts an arm around her and say "ki ca".  Scout, nice kitty that she is, let her do it. 8)

These are some great stories!

Kelsey is into copying everything we do right now.  My favorites are when she gets dh's chapstick and pretends to roll her finger in it and rub it on her lips.  Also, she gets my hairbrushes and pretends to pull the hair out and throw it in the garbage can (I do this after every brushing).
She also has a cute smile thing going on where she tilts her head to one side onto her shoulder and gives a big cheesy grin.
Oh, just a few more.  When she's done with her snacks, she immediately gives me the plate and points to the place where I always lay it.  When we are coming home from an outing and pulling into the driveway, she points to the garage door opener.  I just love how they value order and routine!

At bath time last night...
M: Please don't splash water on the floor baby. It will get very wet and you will slip over when you get out of the bath. Then you will fall and go "ouch!".
T: Oh! Ouch?
M: Yes Ouch! So no more splashing ok?
T: Oh. OK. I promise.
M: Good girl. Thank you.
T: You happy now?

When pulling up next to our neighbour Wayne's car...
T: ar!
M: I'm sorry??? What did you just say...??!
T: ar! There! wayne car! (pointing to the car next to our's)
M: Oooohhh! That's OK then!! Yes it's Wayne's car! (nearly losing it laughing)

When a car in front of us brakes heavily and we nearly run up the back...
T: Ohhh sh*t!!!

I'll say "Hoots (one of his nicknames) let's go change your diaper."  He'll say "Dah-puuuurrrrr"

I'll say "Is that good?"  He'll say "MM HMM!!!"

It doesn't look like much when I type it, but it makes me laugh each time!
